SECTION DESCRIPTION:
In the Jovarai microdistrict in Tauragė, you’ll discover the Žvėrynė swimming area, a scenic beach, a charming gazebo, and, a bit further afield, the Aibė grocery store. Follow the designated path to the metal railway bridge, linking the Jovarai and Pramonės microdistricts with the village of Ližiai and the nearby villages of Dvaras and Dvarelis. The bridge was built in 1916. Once you’ve crossed safely, you’ll arrive in the village of Ližiai. When you reach the busy asphalt road, you’ll find yourself on Pramonės g., just a short walk away from the Smilga grocery store on Mokyklos g. in Dacijonai.
Continue along the designated route, following gravel paths until you reach a paved road. Towards the end of your journey, you’ll walk alongside the scenic banks of the Šešuvis River. The pilgrimage route guides you to the village of Dauglaukis. Here, you’ll find the Smilga grocery shop on Gimtinės g., cosy accommodation at the Dauglaukis community house Gimtinė, a serene pond, a campsite with a fireplace, and the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Bažnyčių g.).
In 1990, as the settlement of Dauglaukis expanded, the village established a parish and started the construction of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Its interior is brought to life with modern artistic touches, featuring a stunning stained-glass window in place of a traditional altar, depicting the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Next, follow the signposted road leading you to Petkaičiai. Petkaičiai has a museum. The museum is located in a residential house and features three exhibitions: Household tools once used by the people of Dauglaukis and surrounding villages, historical items from the local schools, and research works on the area’s history.
Continue on to the town of Žukai, where you'll find a place to stay overnight.
